How to Care for Anthurium

Anthuriums thrive in warm, humid environments with gentle, filtered light—just like their native tropical rainforests. Indoors, place them in bright rooms away from harsh sun, and maintain moisture in both air and soil for the best growth. They’re perfect for bathrooms or kitchens with good light.

  1. Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight.
  2. Watering: Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil is dry. Avoid waterlogging.
  3. Humidity: Prefers high humidity. Mist regularly or use a humidifier.
  4. Temperature: Ideal range is 18–25 °C. Protect from drafts.
  5. Fertilizing: Fertilize once a month in spring and summer with liquid fertilizer.
  6. Cleaning: Wipe leaves regularly with a damp cloth.
  7. Repotting: Every 2–3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound.

Anthuriums are native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, particularly in countries like Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Costa Rica. They naturally grow in warm, humid, and shaded environments, often as epiphytes (plants that grow on trees without taking nutrients from them) or terrestrially in rich, well-draining soil.
